Tom MacDonald

Tom Grew up in Burlington and was drafted to the Soo greyhounds in the second round in 1990. Tom played in three memorial cups with the Hounds winning it all in 1993.

Tom was drafted by the Tampa Bay Lightning in 1993 but was forced to retire in 2000 due to injuries.

Tom has been coaching Hockey and instructing athletes of all ages groups and skill levels for the last 24 years.

Piper is a Hockey Canada D1 Certified Coach with a passion for power skating and edge control. With 9+ years of coaching experience, she is the current Burlington Barracudas U13A Head Coach and the lead development instructor for Northern Freeze Hockey. Piper is sure to get your skater to the next level!

Coaching Philosophy

Piper begins by correcting balance, edges and stride. Once we have achieved the proper technique, we focus on speed and efficiency throughout each functional movement; while creating a fun and developmentally structured learning environment.

Ben Varga

Ben started playing hockey with the Burlington Bulldogs and the Eagles where he played AAA throughout his minor hockey career.

Ben excelled and started his junior hockey career out east in the MJHL, then finished it off back home in the GOJHL AND OJHL.

Ben graduated from Northland College in Wisconsin with a Business degree. While there, he played NCAA DIII hockey in the WIAC for 4 years, and was even a 2 sport NCAA DIII athlete competing in golf as well.

As Ben played hockey at a high level, he understands the importance of a long powerful stride and precise edge work. He strives to demonstrate and teach optimal stride mechanics to athletes of all levels.
